Jean Kavanaugh, M.A., Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Compassionate Professional Help Since 1983

I work with individuals over 18 and couples.  Treatment is specifically designed and adapted to the needs of each client.  The typical duration of treatment varies.

I use conventional counseling methods and draw from many modalities. I often use cognitive behavioral therapy.  This approach is generally used to help clients identify, evaluate and change thoughts, beliefs and behaviors that influence feelings and interpersonal relationships.

Many different approaches are available for use in addressing problems.  A few are: Family systems, narrative, art, family of origin, solution focused as well as other current individual and couples therapies.

I charge rates consistent with other therapists in the area and do have a sliding scale.

Sessions are about 45 to 50 minutes in length.  The first session begins with completion of the paperwork which takes about ten minutes.  With that done  the majority of the session and subsequent session time is devoted to a clients issues. approach is specifically designed and adapted to meet the needs of each client.
